Crafting

So basically lately I feel like I might as well change this to a crafting blog, because that is all I have been doing with my life, and the only picts I have to post. Ha ha. And I would much rather write about crafts than all my Dr apps. :)

My sis-in-law Alyssa is having a boy  and is due just 3 weeks after me, so she is having a babyshower while we are all there during Christmas. I decided to make her a diaper/wipey case for her to put in her diaper bag. I used some leftover fabric I had and added a cute little owl that I found at Hobby Lobby. How do you think it looks? I'm hoping not super homemade, but too late now to change it! :)

I also made a carseat cover that will keep baby girl warm during the horrible Utah winter here. Pinterest gave me an easy pattern, and I changed it up a bit because I wanted it to have a flap down the center so I could peek in on her without having to pull the whole thing up. The inside I used black minky fabric, and I just want to snuggle with it. So soft!!

Almost all of the gifts wrapped and under the tree. . good thing too because Christmas is only a week away now. Crazy!

Not Crafty but I had to throw it in there, Carter's "Cars" collection. I think it is getting out of control. Every holiday for the past 3 years now everyone gives him different cars that they have found, and we only fuel the fire and found 3 new ones that he doesn't have for Christmas this year. ha ha.

Picts from Instagram

This is how Carter watches TV lately, right next to me, holding my hand. Now if only he would hold my hand while walking so I can keep up with him. . .

Carter built Kenna a tower, and put it on her crib so that when she comes home from the hospital it will be waiting for her :)

First snow of the year.

Wal-mart was giving away Minion cupcakes. Made his day.

30 weeks!! Only 10 or less to go!! Woot woot.

Drinking a baby starbucks while shopping. Love their hot cocoa.

Finally got the tree up. . and it is extra bright this year! Yeah. Brandin wants me to point out that he is extra secure in his manhood to have such a girly tree in out apt :) lol

Ward Christmas party

Bishop asked Laura and I to decorate/set-up for the ward Christmas party this year. We decided to do a candy cane theme, with lots of red and white stripes. I was a little nervous halfway through making everything, because it didn't seem like it was going to go together very well, but once it was all done It turned out a lot better than I was expecting! (I hate prego hormones lol) The nice thing is that Bishop had it catered, so we only had to take care of decor. I wanted to do a little something different this year, and Brandin thought of doing a s'mores bar. I thought it would create a really cool atmosphere, and my hubby is amazing so he built me one! What a keeper :) Here is the finished product. . .

What you see when you first walk into the gym

Laura spent who knows how many hours wrapping boxes for our centerpieces, didn't she do such a good job?

Not a very good pict, I guess I moved when I took it, but didn't realize it and this is the only pict I got that showed the fire in the s'mores bar

A closer up shot

The caterer had some amazing desserts. I wont lie, I took 3 because I couldn't decided. The key lime pie was the best!

People hanging out. .

Everyone roasting their s'mores

Brandin and Tyler being goofy

I forgot to take a pict of the pretty present display that Laura put together on the stage until it was already being taken down, but even all messy I think it still looks great!

Thanksgiving feast

This year neither of our families were doing anything for Thanksgiving, so we decided to stay home and enjoy our very first Thanksgiving as just our little family. It's crazy that this is our 7th Thanksgiving together, and the first time we will actually have to cook. ha ha. Our friends the Greens were also staying home with nothing going on, so we decided to split up the food prep and eat it all together! half the work, twice the food! We relaxed all day, and lets face it, Brandin made most of the food. All that I tackled was a veggie tray and Jello, things my cooking skills could handle. ha ha. Brandin was so sweet and even made a pecan pie just for me! I am one loved girl :) I had fun setting the table up and we even opened up the extra leaf to fit us and the kiddos. I had a hard time placing anything in the middle of the table, and Brandin had to do most of it because my belly is way too huge these days. Afterwards we relaxed in food comas and watched a replay of the Maceys parade. Then it was dessert time! Brandin made a chocolate pie and pecan pie, and Laura made pumpkin and apple pie. We then put ourselves into our second food coma of the day, and watched Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Then Laura and Tyler decided to go home and go to bed, and we decided to go to Target for their "black Friday" on a Thurs shopping. It was a ton of fun to go and people watch, and the parking lot was completely full and we had to park in another parking lot and walk over because it was so crazy. Sadly, since it was Target instead of Wal-mart there were a lot less trashy people and we didn't see any drama, which is kinda why we went in the first place. But I was impressed with how kind people were and how there wasn't any pushing or anything like that. We stood in line for about 45 min, and walked away completely done shopping for Carter for Christmas. Yeah!!! Now on to the harder part. . . what to get Brandin? That boy is impossible to shop for. Any ideas?

My Veggie Turkey :)

The homemade pumpkin pie Brandin made for me.

Setting the table up. . .

I thought it would be fun to have martinellis with dinner, so we bought a couple different flavors and I found champagne glasses 6f or a dollar at the dollar store. Score! I thought it was fun. :)

The place setting, and happily most of it is plastic, so all I really had to was were utensils afterwards! Happy day.

Getting the food out

The table being overran with food. . for 4 adults and 2 kids. Needless to say there are lots of leftovers :)

The aftermath. What is funny is everything is a mess, and the veggie Turkey only had 2 carrots taken out of it. ha ha. Guess I am all ready to go for Carter snacks this next week :)

Sadly I didn't take any picts of the Greens while they were over, but I promise they really were there!! :)

Hairbows!!!!

Ok, so I know I already have way too many hair clips at this point. . but I honestly can't stop myself. Some women hit "nesting" stages, mine are crafting. lol. I have found a couple tutorials on Pinterest and tried my hand at making different flowers to put on the cute headbands. I'm happy with how most of them have turned out. And I'm sure there will be many more made in these next 10 weeks while I'm bored. I think I need to make some yellow ones, because I have yellow outfits and no headbands to match! Crisis moment :) Guess I have to go shopping at Hobby Lobby. Oh darn. ;)

Pinterest will be the death of me....

Pinterest has hit again. Sigh. I see all of these cute ideas I never even knew existed and I can't hold myself back, I just have to make them!!! I found quite a few travel wipey cases and decided to use my leftover fabric from my hair clip board to make one! Thank you Pinterest for the idea. So much cuter than what I used for Carter.

Side view

I have also been on a hair clip craze, and now I have started making headbands. Someone stop me!!! I lack self control. And hobby lobby is having a 50% off of all of their ribbon. . you're welcome :)

Carter has been wanting to hang up all of his picts lately, and I was sick of them randomly ending up everywhere, so I took 2 of Brandins old white boards that he was wanting to donate, and covered them in cute fabric and hung them up. Now he has a special place to keep his works of art :)

I have a collection of Christmas stuff that has been building up, so now they are all crammed together in the living room until I can find a better place for them. .

The collection of hair clips I am accumulating! This baby better like things on her head :)

Carter showing off his tall tower. :)

He is really good about putting his coat up, and I guess this was the easiest way for him to hang his coat this time. ha ha.

Oh man, what a week

So this past week has been one of the craziest weeks I have had in a long time. My cousin was having his mission farewell in Colorado, and I talked Brandin into driving over with me so I could see all my fam. Since I was there I stayed a couple extra days to work at the flower shop and then planned on going home on the train. Monday and Tues went great (minus losing my phone at McDonalds one night 45 min away from my in-laws) but thankfully I was able to get it the next day. Then Wed night Carter started to get sick. By Thurs morning around 3 he was puking and was up the rest of the night = so was I. By 7 am I was also puking (which isn't really new to me since that is normal, so it took me a while to decide that I did in fact have the flu) By 2 I had thrown up quite a few times, couldn't keep down even liquids, and had started having contractions every 1-2 min. I called my Dr and they said if that continues for more than 3 hours, to go to the hospital. Since my insurance only works in Utah, and I was 4 hours away from Provo, I called Brandin to see what he thought I should do. He said that he was ditching class and would come get me, and his mom offered to drive me halfway to meet Brandin so I could get home faster. So a sick and fever Carter and I load up in the Van and are on our way (around 5) Brandin called me to let me know that as soon as he hit Price (about and hour and a half from Provo) the car died. He went into auto zone and they decided it must have been the alternator, and lucky us, the whole town of Price didn't have one in stock anywhere. The soonest they could get it in was Sat. So we arrived in Price around 8 PM, my contractions getting worse, and no car to get us any farther, and my mother in law had a migraine. Brandin called the Price hospital and thankfully they accepted my insurance, so away we went. I was admitted right away, hooked up to an IV to hydrate me, and had a bunch of tests ran. Turns out on top of the flu, I also had a bladder infection that was also contributing to triggering contractions, and the baby's heart rate had dropped. They were talking about sticking me in an ambulance and shipping me to the Provo hospital, but thankfully 2 shots and an hour later and they were able to slow the contractions and the baby's heart rate went back to normal. Thank you for modern medicine!!! While this is all going on, My mother in law is still in the car with Carter because A, he had the flu, and B, no one under 12 was allowed back where I was. My mom in law did not want to stay the night, and they decided to keep me overnight, so she went back to Colorado with Carter. Every time I tried to roll over the baby's monitor would go off because it couldn't read her heartbeat, so I had to hold completely still all night. That was night 2 with no sleep. The next morning my friend Arthella who works in Price was so nice to take time out of her day and picked Brandin up from the hospital so he could go back to the car and see what our options were. The alternator we were told would be more complicated to remove than a typical car, but after watching some youtube videos he decided it didn't look overly hard, and he was pretty sure he could do it. The only problem left was then tracking down the part we needed. Surprise surprise, it was back in Junction, Co. So Brandin called his mom and she went and picked it up, and started the trek back to us. Ended up that my mom was free and traded off with her, and brought the part and my son back to me. I was finally released from the hospital, and Arthella sacrificed her lunch hour to come and pick me up and take me to Brandin and our car. Finally around 3 that afternoon my mom pulled into town. At this point it had started to snow, so she immediately started her trek back home. 20 min later Brandin had the car fixed and we were on our way!!! We made it back into town around 7 that night, and I finally crashed. I didn't even wake up until 9:30 the next morning. Whew! Needless to say, we had a very lazy weekend and hardly left the house Sat and Sun. :)

Fam picts

We decided that it had been way too long since we last took fam picts (a little over a year ago) so we went up to bridal veil falls Sunday after church to try and get some. Sadly, Carter was not in a very cooperative mood, so there are very few that are actually cute. Sigh. Oh well, this is life with a 4 yr old. ha ha.

So cute if he would have made a happy face

Carter needed a silly picture, he kept begging for it, so we did our best to oblige :)
